I live in the LA metropolitan area, but subscribe to the New York Times. Today's Dining section is "The Drinks Issue". I've read almost all
of it and it's a lot of fun.
Not exclusively a Martini-related thing, but the gist of Martini loyalism and quest for perfection, attendance to (sometimes microscopic) details and all the other aspects that seem to drive some of our interests--it's all spelled out there in stunning detail. There is more focus, obviously, on the New York bar scene, and various "cocktail geeks" from this area are cited and quoted. The guys who make their own vermouth, chip their own ice, concoct their own bitters and so forth. I thought I was alone, frankly, but it seems I am also not hardly so entrenched as some of these guys.
There is some excellent reading in there for "Cocktailians" regardless of stripe. A long article about White Russian enthusiasts, apparently inspired by the movie "The Big Lewbowski" and it's cult status (who knew?).
It's here: http://www.nytimes.com/pages/dining/index.html
I assume most of the section is provided on the website, but can't say. One of my favorite articles is the one named "Let 100 Bartending Philosophies Bloom". But I've read about 5 of them they are all pretty interesting if you're of the right stripe.
