I consider myself a person open to new things. I like to taste the latest concoctions, the most creative chefs devise. I like to read the latest books. I like
contemporary art, etc. All in all, I am not a traditionalist. But when it comes to cocktails, I am as old fashioned and conservative as they get. The question
I have pondered over and I'd like to put to discussion here is, why totally normal people (we are normal, aren't we?) are so totally traditionalist
when it comes to drinks. Why aren't we fascinated by the latest intriguing concoctions, bartenders invent? Or if those new inventions are uninteresting in
the first place, why is that so? Even if modern authors can't really compete with Old Will, some of them at least write very interesting books. I don't
ask for a drink that can equal the martini in terms of quality, just as I don't expect a newly released book to equal Shakespeare. I just don't
understand, why I have yet to find a new creation, I even find interesting. Anxiously awaiting any comments, Didi
