Well I just found out (or realized) that AOL has discontinued there wed site space that Zigy's Martini Lounge has been on for the last 12 years. I would
like to thank all of you that have been with me forever. Maybe one day I will rebuild the site and put it back up, but for now it will just have to be a happy
memory. I will leave this message board up, but without the support of the website I am afraid that we will not get much traffic. Again, thank you all, Merry

Well, I guess it is true: All good things must come to an end. Too bad.
Here's hoping the Message Board on Yuku will still generate some traffic as it exists separately from the arbitrarily deleted AOL Martini Lounge. the old codger (who hopes Zigy will resurrect his Martini Lounge on another site)

I guess that it is telling that I had forgotten about the old site. I have this board bookmarked and have been easily accessing the board (and will do so). But
it does give me a twinge to think about the lost information and links on the site and a reason to raise a cold martini tonight in a toast to the old, on with
the new.

If you attempt to go to the old site, you will find the following statement: "We're sorry to inform you that as of Oct. 31, 2008, AOL® Hometown was shut down
permanently. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Following that are comments of outrage from folks who had homepages on that site that were deleted with all of the files, it seems. Those folks had their wedding pictures, family albums, even one woman's tribute to her husband, a decorated pilot. All gone with a key stroke. It seems as though some are migrating to geocities.yahoo, but will need to build their sites all over, with none of the old files. "Times sure is tough, ain't it, baby." It's enough to drive one to drink. |

Well, I don't want to see Zigy's go away. So I have spent the day playing around. This is where I am. http://web.me.com/zigystar It is just a start (not complete), and I don't know how fast we can be back (Real work and

Congrats to you for your efforts to restore the Martini Lounge. Here's hoping you can find more time in your busy schedule to bring it all back to where it was before AOL did it's dastardly deed.
